Obituary

William Fulcher Sisson, age 88 of Three Rivers died Monday Dec. 10, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following an extended illness. He was born in Kalamazoo on June 7, 1924 the son of Clare M. and Bess (Fulcher) Sisson. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and the University of Michigan School of Engineering. He has been a resident of Three Rivers the past 63 years, and enjoyed a summer home at Gun Lake. Bill was the Chief Engineer for Armstrong Machine Works in Three Rivers from 1949 until his retirement in 1987. He was a registered professional engineer and an honorary member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He served in the U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and was twice awarded the EASME Theater Ribbon. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Three Rivers Rotary where he received the Paul Harris Award. He was also a member of the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce, the Boy Scouts, Fluid Controls Institute, Boss of the Year at Armstrongs, and a member of the committee to establish Glen Oaks Community College. Bill was married to Joanne K. Morton on Oct. 1, 1949 in Kalamazoo. She survives along with his daughter, Margaret A. "Peggy" (Eric) Roth of Libertyville, IL; son, William F. (Mary) Sisson of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Lauren Roth; and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Barbara Dolan. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday Dec. 14, 2012 in Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Brenda Deily, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170 of Three Rivers. Memorial donations may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Three Rivers. Arrangements were by the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers.
