Winnifred Doreen Zimlich, age 90 of Three Rivers died Monday Sep. 3, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers. She was born in Stratford Ontario, Canada on Sep. 29, 1921 the daughter of Russell and Winnifred (Henry) Richardson. After high school in Canada, Doreen came to the United States where she attended Great Lakes College and the Detroit College of Law. She was married to Alden J. Zimlich on July 21, 1950 in Bowling Green, Ohio. They later moved to the Portage area and have resided in Three Rivers the past 48 years. Doreen was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Doreen is survived by her husband, Alden J. Zimlich of Three Rivers; two sons, Alden D. "Al" Zimlich (Bonnie) and Russell Zimlich both of Three Rivers; one daughter, Karen Zimlich (Carl Schlichting) of Mt. Morris, MI; three grandchildren, Andrea Zimlich, Benjamin Zimlich, and Bianca Davis; several nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and by her faithful dog, Soft Black. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William; and by two sisters, Laura and Nelda. The family will recieve friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday Sep. 7, 2012 at the funeral home with Hans Meulberg officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
