Violet Varichak, age 84, passed away at Thurston Wood Village in Sturgis, MI on September 11, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born June 4, 1933 in Chicago, IL, a daughter to George and Mary (Korach) Ratkovich. Violet married George Varichak on September 6, 1953, at Saint Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Chicago, IL. Violet was survived by her loving husband of 65 years: George Varichak; daughter: Nancy (Brian) Maxwell of Sturgis, MI; son: Michael (Debra) Varichak of Phoenix, AZ; Grandchildren: Brian (Marcy) Maxwell of Constantine, MI, Sean (Cara) Maxwell of South Lyons, MI; Lindsey (Kyle) Ray of Sturgis, MI, Natalie Varichak of Arizona and Richie Potasky of Arizona; Great Grandchildren: Quinn, Tessa and Caden Maxwell, Ben and Ava Maxwell, Oliver and Maxwell Ray; Siblings: Millie Zevkovich, Sophia (Peter) Stoynoff, George Ratkovich and Robert Ratkovich; Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, siblings: Michael, Joseph, Steve, Peter and Daniel Ratkovich. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 1500 East 186th Street Lansing, IL. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Indiana directly following the funeral service. Ray Funeral Services in Three Rivers, MI was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
