Ruth Louise Lane, age 80 of Three Rivers, died Monday, April 7, 2008 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Three Rivers on Feb. 15, 1928 the daughter of Daniel and Mona (Ford) Burkett, and was a lifetime resident of the Three Rivers area. Following High School, Ruth worked as a bookkeeper at Wards, Michigan Power, Three Rivers Hospital, Continental Can, Glen Oaks Community College, Viking and Coachmen R-V. In her spare time she enjoyed ceramics, gardening, travel, and camping. Ruth was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a former member of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliary. Ruth was married to Lawrence "Larry" Lane on July 5, 1947 in Three Rivers. Larry survives along with 3 sons, William Lane (Melissa Rowe) of Kalamazoo, L. Clark Lane (Alice) of Texas, and Jack Lane (Amy) of South Carolina; 2 daughters, Lucy Mensah and Lethia Mensah both at home; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Phyllis Hickman (Jim) of Elkhart; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Merry Neal; 2 sisters, June Weed and Ione Fuller; and by 3 brothers, Gerald, Don, and Paul Burkett. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral mass will 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Three Rivers with Rev. Father Mark Vyverman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
