Roscoe R. "Ross" Longenecker, age 86 of Three Rivers, died Wednesday March 10, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Three Rivers on Oct. 4, 1923 the son of Roscoe and Mamie (Boyer) Longenecker and wa a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. Following graduation from three Rivers High School he served with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Europe. Roscoe was married to Joyce C. Bitner on June 21, 1942 in Three Rivers. He was the owner and operator of Longenecker Distribution Company of Three Rivers and Schoolcraft for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E for 59 years and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce B. Longenecker of Three Rivers; 2 daughters, Connie Collins and Lori (George) Black both of Three Rivers; 4 grandchildren, Kim Collins, Jeff Collins, Chris Crump, and Jason Black; 4 great-grandchildren, Destanee Collins, Steve Collins, Kelsey Collins, and Amanda Crump; a sister, Dorothy Lintemoot of Centreville, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marion Pappas.
Cremation has been conducted. There will be no visitation or services. A private interment of ashes will take place in riverside Cemetery.
