Roland Irlweg, age 71, of White Pigeon, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2026. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 18, 1955, to John and Anna (Kuechel) Irlweg.

Roland spent many years serving his community as a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department. He took great pride in his work and was a hardworking and dedicated man until his retirement. In 2008, Roland moved from Chicago to White Pigeon, Michigan, where he made his home and continued to build a life filled with family, friends.

On June 14, 2017, Roland married Kathleen “Kathy” Kelly on the shores of Lake Michigan in Covert, Michigan. 

Roland was a kind and caring person who loved his family dearly. He was the type of person who seemed to excel at just about everything he put his mind to. He enjoyed renovations and could often be found working on a project, improving something, or putting his talents to use. A hard worker by nature, Roland took pride in doing things well.

He was also a lifelong Chicago sports fan, proudly cheering on the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Above all else, though, Roland cherished his family.

Roland is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Irlweg of White Pigeon; his children, Sarah (Steve) Brady of Chicago, Illinois, and Christopher Irlweg of Tampa, Florida; his beloved grandchildren, Colin and Caysie Brady; his mother, Anna Irlweg; and his niece, Nikki.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Irlweg; and his brothers, John and Irwin “Eby” Irlweg.

In accordance with Roland’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time. 

Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Avenue, Three Rivers, Michigan, has been entrusted with his care.
