Robert J. Pierce, age 75 of Three Rivers died Sunday Dec. 8, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Three Rivers on June 21, 1938 the son of Arthur and Neva (Craw) Pierce and was a lifetime resident of Three Rivers except for his four years in the U.S. Navy. Robert was a member of Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170., Eagles Lodge #2303, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #474, and AMVETS of Mesick, MI. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and most of all, his family. He was employed as a long haul truck driver for Viking R-Vs from 1978 to 2004. Robert was married to Dorothy K. Brown on Jan. 10, 1959 at the Fish Lake Bible Church. She survives along with two sons, Richard Charles Pierce and Scott Allen Pierce both of Three Rivers; daughter, Susan Shafer of Three Rivers; two brothers, Charles Pierce of Lake Ann, MI and James Pierce of Three Rivers; sister, Nancy Bailey of Stewart, FL; half-sister, Betty Grunert of Three Rivers; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Pierce; brother Lawrence Sylvester Pierce; and a granddaughter. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. No services are planned at this time. Interment of his ashes will take place at Riverside Cemetery in the Spring of 2014.
