Obituary

Ray E. Bigler, Jr.was born in Goshen, IN on Feb. 16, 1925 the only child of Ray and Goldie Mae (Wilson) Bigler. The family moved to Mishawaka in 1926 where Ray Jr. graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1943. He continued to study at Winona School of Photography. Following graduation he began his 41 year photography career. Bigler Studio of Mishawaka, IN was the first in producing full color wedding album photographs. Ray retired from photography in 1985 after suffering a heart attack. He then moved to the family summer home on Corey Lake, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family Ray was married to Caroline Conley in 1956. They had one son, Steven Barrett (Bigler). Ray and Caroline were divorced in 1976. He married Earlene Dill in 1980. She preceded him in death in 1994. Ray was married to Sharon Smith on July 29, 1995 in Schoolcraft. Ray was a member of the Professional Photographers of America; the River Park Lions Club; Masonic Lodge #130 of Mishawaka, the White Shrine Lodge, and the Scottish Rite of South Bend. He received his 50 year gold pin from Masonic Lodge #130 in June of 2007. Ray E. Bigler, Jr. died July 30, 2008 after a long battle with multiple health issues. He will be remembered for his gentle ways and as the smiling face behind the camera. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Ray is survived by his wife, Sharon of Three Rivers; one son, Dr. Steven (Janet)Barrett of Anthem, AZ; 4 step-children, Kevin (Bonnie) Miller of Gobles, Katherine Miller of Kalamazoo, Harold (Bud) Miller of Portage, and W. Aaron Miller of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Kyle & Kendall Barrett; 10 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a step-son, Rodney Miller. Cremation has been conducted. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 at F. & A.M. Lodge #130, 1810 Went St., Mishawaka, IN A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 at the New Apostolic Church in Niles, MI with Priest, Dennis Smith officiating. A private interment of ashes will take place later in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Oseola, IN.
