Pauline Ruby Traverse, age 88 of Goshen, IN and formerly of Three Rivers, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at The Maples of Goshen. She was born near Jones, MI on Nov. 21, 1919 the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Kilgore) Glass. She received her Degree from Western Michigan University in science and education. Pauline was a schoolteacher with the Nottawa, Oak Grove, Marcellus, Shavehead, and Three Rivers Schools, retiring in 1981. Following her retirement, she enjoyed reading and ceramics. She was a member of the Ninth Street United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women and the Rose Circle. Pauline was married to Robert E. Traverse on Aug. 17, 1946 in Goshen, IN. He died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jessup; a brother, Robert Glass; and a great granddaughter, Kylee Kreich. Pauline is survived by a daughter and son in law, Shirley Ann & Robert Doane of Millersburg, IN; son and daughter in law, Thomas & Carol Traverse of Sommerville, SC; 4 grandchildren, Carrie Ann Kreich (Mike) of Indianapolis, Elizabeth Marie Byrer (Ted) of Westfield, IN, Pauline Helen Tidwell (Brandon) of N. Charleston, SC, and Amber Lee Traverse of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 7 great-grandchildren, Braden Hammond, Owen Kreich, Noelle Byrer, Zachary Byrer, Benjamin Byrer, Maxwell Byrer, and baby Tidwell on the way; 1brother, Jerry Glass of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Doane officiating. Burial will follow in Shavehead Cemetery in Cass County.
