Paul Edward Brueck, age 80 of Three Rivers, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born in Wasepi, MI on Dec. 14, 1927 one of ten children born to Louis and Irene (Heinrich) Brueck. Paul served in the U.S. Army in Italy during WWII. He was married to Marlene F. Liby on Sept. 8, 1951 in the Three Rivers Bible Church. Paul was a tractor & implement mechanic and had been employed by the Huffman and later the Hooley Ford Dealership in Centreville. He later worked for the John Deere Dealership in Kalamazoo and the Walker John Deere Dealership of Union. Following his "retirement", Paul began his own lawn and garden service and remained active until his recent illness.
Paul had served on the church boards of Bethany Chapel and the Three Rivers Bible Church where he was also chairman of the building committee. He was a leader for the Christian Service Brigade for several years, and was a volunteer for many years at the St. Joseph County Grange Fair with the 4-H Youth Program.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marlene; 2 sons, Steven (Sue Stapleton) Brueck of Gilbert, SC and Stan (Dorothy Fitch) Brueck of Three Rivers; 6 grandchildren, Caleb (Melody) Brueck, Richard (Kate) Brueck, David Brueck, Daniel Brueck, Anita Brueck (Tom), and Tonya (Robert) Sills; 6 great-grandchildren, Bekah, Josiah, Isaac, Samuel, Emma, and Kiera Brueck; 2 brothers, Maurice Brueck, and Eugene (Janet) Brueck; 2 sisters, Marjorie Gay and Betty James; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Lloyd Brook, Kenneth Brook, and Robert Brueck; 2 sisters, Lorene Whittenberg and Doris Zielke; and a daughter in law, Libby (Baxter) Brueck.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the funeral home with Reverend Tim Asbill, Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene officiating. Military interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with rites provided by the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170. Memorials donations may be directed to either the St. Joseph County 4-H Youth Council, or the Three Rivers Fire & Rescue Equipment Fund.
