Obituary

Norman Herbert Martin passes away peacefully on January 21, 2012 in Three Rivers. Herb was born July 18, 1926 in Wickliff, KY the son of the late Norman L. and Verble (Mills) Martin. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lindsey on Sep. 3, 1944. They spent 66 years together travelling the country. Herb worked for Bechtel Corporation supervising the building of nuclear power plants. He was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of the Three Rivers Bible Church, and his favorite book was the Bible which he read daily. Herb could repair anything. His real passion was working outdoors in the yard. Herb is survived by four children, Jane Dedic of Casper, WY, Bill (Nancy) Martin of Three Rivers, MI, Cathy (Val) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, and David (Cheryl) Martin of Portage, MI; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his brother, Renault; his sister, Laree; and son in law, Eugene Dedic. A memorial service will be held at the Three Rivers Bible Church, 220 N. Erie St., Three Rivers on Tuesday Jan. 24, 2012 at 6 p.m. Military interment of his ashes will take place later in Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family asks that donations in memory of Herb be made to The Free Store, 137 Portage Ave., Three Rivers, MI 49093. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers.
