Mary Louise Abrams

Mary Louise Foss Abrams, age 90, of Three Rivers, MI, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at Birch Meadows Senior Care in Three Rivers, Michigan.

Mary was born in Charlotte, Michigan, on March 7, 1936, to Enos Aldrich Foss and Octa Marie Staup. She was a 1954 graduate of White Pigeon High School. During her high school years, Mary worked at her family’s White Pigeon Dairy-Dairy Bar, where she enjoyed serving ice cream and burgers and being part of the family business. She was employed for many years at Continental Can Company in Three Rivers, and also worked at a downtown dress shop in Three Rivers.

On December 4, 1970, Mary married James "Jim" Abrams in Three Rivers. Together, they shared more than four decades of marriage and built a life filled with family, friendship, service, travel, and countless memories. Jim preceded her in death in 2014.

Mary's faith was an important part of her life, and she was active in many areas of the church, including Bible study and women's groups, donating her time and talents to the Lord. She and Jim also participated in mission trips to Henderson, KY. Mary and Jim were active members of the Lions Club, where they both gave generously of their time and energy. She was also a member of the Red Hatters and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines.

Mary had a wonderful sense of community and a genuine love for people. She formed lasting friendships throughout her life and enjoyed traveling with friends, including a memorable trip to Alaska. She and Jim enjoyed many years of wintering in Bradenton, Florida, at Braden Castle Park. They also spent time traveling the country in their RV.

Mary loved gardening and took great pride in growing vegetables, flowers, and other plants around the farm. She also enjoyed sewing and cross-stitching, creating beautiful dolls and quilts for family and friends.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who made it a priority to be present for birthdays, sporting events, holidays, and all of life's important moments. She had a remarkable ability to create special memories out of even the simplest occasions.

Mary was feisty, independent, thoughtful, and incredibly strong. She had a sacrificial heart and often put others needs before her own. She will be remembered as a shining example of unconditional love as well as a fierce prayer warrior for her friends and family.

Mary is survived by her children, Kathy (Jerry) Siemen of Holland, MI; Bob (Cheryl) Brewer of Three Rivers, MI; and Jeannie Brewer of Lizella, Georgia; grandchildren: Angela (Jeff) Kunkle, Jessica (Tom) Stavrou, Daniel (Sarah) Siemen, Bradley (Christina) Brewer, Chandler Brewer, Marceline (Cameron) Nevins, and Joshua (Deana) Brewer; three stepdaughters, Terry, Tina, and Tammy; 22 great-grandchildren; and siblings Enos (Teresa) Foss, Judy Yoder, and Jean (Sid) Hagen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Abrams, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage; parents, Enos and Octa Foss; her sister Christine Harshberger; and her infant sister, Doris Jean Foss.

The family would also like to acknowledge Robert Elwood Brewer (1935-2022) who was married to Mary for 9 years and was father to Kathy, Bob, and Jeannie.

The family will receive friends and guests from noon until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Avenue, Three Rivers, Michigan 49093. A funeral service celebrating Mary's life will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Pastor John Koller of Verse by Verse Church.

Following the service, Mary will be laid to rest at Hamilton Township Cemetery, 81958 Co Rd 215, Decatur, MI 49045 with burial beginning at approximately 3:00 p.m.
