Leonard Lewis Lane, age 77 of Three Rivers, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers. He was born in Three Rivers on June 7, 1930 the son of Lawrence F. and Adilla (Clark) Lane and was a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany in the early 50's. Prior to and following his military service, he had worked at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers with his brother, Larry. Later he became co-owner of the Three Rivers Wilbert Vault Company with business partner, Dale Rice, retiring in 1994. Leonard was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2303; the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170; and the Moose Lodge all of Three Rivers. He enjoyed hunting, mushrooming, and especially fishing.
Leonard was first married to Donna Schmidtendorff on Aug. 18, 1951. She died in 1965. He was married to Donna J. (Naylor) Tobin on March 18, 1978. She died in 1987. Leonard was married to Myrna (Wagner) Keefer in Three Rivers on Sep. 20, 1997.
She survives, along with 7 step-children, Brenda White (Jack) of Windermere, FL, Craig Tobin (Evelyn) of Ft. Worth, TX, Mark Tobin of Tempel, TX, Charles Tobin (Doreen) of Mendon , Rhonda Cunic of Constantine, Marvin Cunic (Dena) of Sherwood, and Sheryl Pratt of Sturgis; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Larella Irwin of Vandalia; 2 brothers, Larry Lane (Ruth) of Three Rivers, and Rev. Loren Lane (Jeanie) of Sturgis; several nephews and nieces including special caregiver, Leslie Ware.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his previous two wives; a son, Steven Lane; and a step-son, Wayne Tobin.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
