Karen Elaine Ruhlig, age 54 of Three Rivers, died Monday May 2, 2011 in a motor vehicle accident in Kalamazoo County. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on Oct. 22, 1956 the daughter of Walter G. and Betty Jo (Ostram) Ruhlig Jr. She was a 1974 graduate of Three Rivers High School and received her degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Karen's working life started out with G.T.E. which was later known as Verizon and now, Frontier Communications where she was still working in customer service. For a time, Karen was an active supporter of the Three Rivers Community Players Association, and her hobby was shopping. Karen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by 2 paternal aunts, Sally Dansereau of New Port Richey, FL and Barbara Maddux of St. Petersburg, FL; close friends, the Mark & Cindy Books family; and her faithful dog, Chip. Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held Sunday May 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Three Rivers Community Players Theater located at 15526 Millard Rd., Three Rivers, MI 49093. Memorial donations may be directed to the Three Rivers Community Players, Inc., P.O. Box 157, Three Rivers, MI 49093 (a tax exempt 501B-3 organization).
