Hung Dinh Dao, age 52 of Constantine died Saturday Jan. 25, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following a 3 month illness. He was born in Saigon, South Viet Nam on Jan. 1, 1962 the son of the late Huong Dinh Dao and Thin Thi Luong. He served in the South Viet Nam Military before coming to the United States in 1979. Here he worked at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 15 years and later at Schurring Greenhouse. Hung was a landscaper and gardener whose work was seen throughout the Three Rivers area. He also did seasonal work on several area farms.
Hung is survived by 2 sons, Christopher Dao of Three Rivers and Paul Dao of Kalamazoo; the mother of his children, Delores McKinnie and her daughter, Joselyn McKinnie of Long Beach, MS; 3 sisters, Huong Thi Dao of Viet Nam, Hanh Thi Dao of Germany, and Binh Thi Dao (Phuong) of Grand Rapids; 3 brothers, Dao Dinh Dao (Na Nyguen) of Columbia, TN, Vuong Dinh Dao of Ocean Springs, MS, and Viet Dinh Dao of Viet Nam; several nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends, including his caregiver, Shawn Pumfrey.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday Jan. 30, 2014 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Vinh Le, Pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church officiating. Cremation will follow services. Memorial donations will be directed to the family.
