Helen M. (DeWitt) Shannon, age 97 of Sturgis, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at Sturgis Hospital. She was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on July 13, 1910 the daughter of the late Irvin C. and Ethel Mae (Coats) DeWitt. Helen was married to Edward L. Shannon in Frazee, MN and they moved to Three Rivers, MI in 1952. Edward died on Sept. 12, 1992. Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family and card playing. She and her husband were former members of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Three Rivers. Helen is survived by her daughter, Joan Kelley (William) of Sturgis; 3 grandchildren, Debra Beck (Lewis) of Sebring, FL, Kathy Moore (Mike) and Kevin Kelley (Linda) both of Sturgis; 10 great-grandchildren. Burial has taken place in Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers. A memorial service will be held later. Memorials may be directed to the Activities Department at Thurston Woods in Sturgis.
