Obituary

Emory E. Dailey, age 87 of Three Rivers died Saturday May 11, 2013 at Three Rivers Health following a one-month illness. He was born on Nov. 6, 1925 in Three Rivers the son of John Preston Dailey and Cecile (Jones) Dailey and has been a Three Rivers resident for most of his life. He served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Emory was employed as a police officer for the City of Three Rivers for 13 years, and as an investigator of welfare fraud for St. Joseph County for 11 years. He was a member of Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170, and helped establish the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Little League program in Three Rivers. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, living at Corey Lake, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Emory was married to June A. Willemin on April 4, 1947 in Centreville. She survives along with two daughters, Ruth Ann (James) Awe, and Diane Lynn (Peter) Leverentz; son Michael Eugene (Patricia) Dailey all of Three Rivers; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Julia) Awe, Jason (Laura) Awe, Jessica (Jaymes) MacDonald, Michelle (Richard) Konik, Craig (Rachel) Dailey, Paul, John, and Mary Leverentz; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Awe, and Zak Konik; a sister, Mary (Harold) Wahl of Three Rivers; half-sister, Kathleen Dailey; half-brother, Patrick (Norma) Dailey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jack, Dean, Keith, and Robert; and an infant sister. Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday May 14, 2013 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers with Pastor Kyle Foster of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church officiating. The family is requesting casual dress and anything with a Detroit Tiger logo while attending. It is also suggested that memorials be directed to either The Thin Blue Line, or to Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170.
