Delilah Josephine Bowser

Delilah Josephine Bowser, age 74, of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away at home on September 25, 2026, with her husband of 55 years, Jerry, at her side.

She was born May 28, 1952, in Grundy, Virginia, the daughter of Raymond Hill and Shirley (Runyon) Hill. Delilah married Jerry Bowser on August 14, 1971, at Fort Meade, Maryland. Together, they lived in many places throughout the United States and also spent time living in Germany. While in Germany, Delilah discovered her love of racing and went on to win the 1977 Powder Puff Racing Championship. She also spent five years driving semi-trucks alongside her husband.

Delilah had an incredible green thumb and maintained a garden, which she canned and preserved so that it would last until the next harvest. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid reader. She loved animals, especially her schnauzers, and enjoyed watching deer, hummingbirds, and other birds. She also like watching the Hallmark Channel.

Delilah worked as a seamstress making at Interior Saddles for five years and later worked in nursing homes for three years. At the age of 44, she achieved a goal she had set for herself and earned her GED in 2006.

Above all, Delilah was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful mother and absolutely adored her grandchildren, each of whom had a special nickname given to them by Grandma. She was always there when someone needed her and was the person who would listen, no matter the circumstances. 

Delilah was baptized and was a member of Alfordsville Christian Church in Alfordsville, Indiana.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Bowser of Three Rivers; her son, Chad Bowser of Detroit; her daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Britton of Pahrump, Nevada, and Tammy (Michael) Sulzer of Jensen Beach, Florida; Grandchildren, Zebulan (Morgan) Bowser, Sedrick Bowser, Dayland (Kristen) Bowser, Karisa (Hunter) Tosh, Emmanuel (Rachell) Todd, Deborah Britton, Thalia Britton, Kasey (Nicole Schwenzer) Sulzer, Mikayla Sulzer, and Alexandria (Hunter Bayard) Sulzer; 13 Great Grandchildren; and her siblings, Raymond Hill, Paul and sister Jeannie Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Roger Johnson.

In accordance with Delilah's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Avenue, Three Rivers, Michigan, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Delilah's memory are asked to consider the St. Joseph County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the gathering.
