Cheryl Lynn
Chapman
January 21, 1966 – June 9, 2025
Cheryl Lynn Chapman, age 59, of Scotts, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Born on January 21, 1966, in Kalamazoo to John and Delores (Paige) Chapman, Cheryl lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. She was united in marriage to Harrison Hook, with whom she shared over 40 years of love and life until his passing.
Cheryl spent her years in various Michigan communities—spending time in Mendon, residing in Constantine for a decade, returning to Mendon for another 10 years, and ultimately settling in Scotts during her final years.
She worked at several places throughout her life including Pioneer, the Shipshewana Flea Market, Meijer, and Zalandka, where she helped bring gardening centers to life for The Home Depot. A lover of flowers and nature, Cheryl's passion for gardening was only matched by her deep affection for animals, especially her beloved dog, Bowie.
Cheryl had a vibrant taste in music, enjoying everything from '80s rock and '90s grunge to artists like Jelly Roll, Linkin Park, Eminem, and NuBreed. She attended church at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Vicksburg, where she found great peace and community.
Those who knew Cheryl will remember her for her heart of gold. She was a caregiver by nature, always putting others before herself, and possessed a forgiving spirit that inspired everyone around her.
Cheryl is lovingly survived by her children: Melissa Moses of White Pigeon, Joshua Hook of Three Rivers, and Grey Hook of Kalamazoo; grandchildren: Christian Moses, Madilyn Moses, Kaitlyn Hook, and Lennon McKay; siblings: Bruce Chapman and Michael Chapman, both of Scotts, and Brian Chapman of Portage; sister-in-law Janet Lightner; as well as one niece and her lifelong friend, Duane Barns.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harrison, her parents John and Delores, her son Allen Hook, her sister Laurie Chapman, and several nieces and nephews.
