Ray Funeral Services
1:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Charles “Chuck” Edward Hunt, Jr., age 49 of Athens, Michigan, passed away on May 16, 2026 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Through his selfless decision to be a tissue donor, Chuck gave the gift of hope and healing to others, continuing to make a difference even after his passing.
Chuck was born on April 30, 1977 in Bartow, Florida, the son of Charles Edward Hunt, Sr. and Pamela Kay (Guy) Harrington. He spent his early years in Florida before moving to Michigan during middle school, where he remained until the age of 18. Chuck later moved to Louisiana and lived there for seven years before returning to Michigan, living in communities including Sturgis, Three Rivers, and most recently Athens.
Chuck spent much of his life working in manufacturing. He worked for Cobalt and, while living in Louisiana, was employed by Air Conduit and Georgia Pacific. He also worked for Little Caesars in Schoolcraft.
He had a deep love for fishing and often joked that “if it had a puddle and a fish, he was going fishing.” Chuck enjoyed spending time playing video games with his son Connor, with Grand Theft Auto being one of their favorites. He loved good food, especially lasagna, homemade pizza, egg nog, pecan pie, and cheesecake. Chuck also enjoyed listening to classic country music, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, spending hours watching TikTok videos, and chewing his favorite Grizzly Wintergreen tobacco.
He is survived by his children, Kaitlyn (fiancé Austin Taylor) Hunt of Sturgis, Connor (girlfriend: Jamie Trattles) Hunt of Athens, Jordan Hunt of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ezekiel Howay of Athens, and Olivia Smathers of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Aaliyah Smathers and Alexander Taylor; partners, Stacey Trattles of Athens and Ashley Howay of Athens; siblings, Tina (Russell) Albertson and Brian (Bobbie) Miller; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his Grandpa Bob Guy; and his Aunt Carol Miller.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, with a short time of sharing beginning at 2:45 PM, at Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers, MI 49093.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place after the visitation.
