Anita Louise Young

Anita Louise Young, age 82, formerly of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Medilodge of Portage in Portage, Michigan.

She was born on December 27, 1943, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of R.D. and Anne (Morgan) Omo. Anita spent her early years in South Bend before her family returned to Three Rivers, where she would build a life centered around faith, family, and service to others.

Anita earned her Associate Degree in Business from Glen Oaks Community College. She began her working career as a lunch lady for Three Rivers Community Schools, where she enjoyed caring for and serving local students. In the early 1990s, she pursued her passion for helping others feel their best and became a hairstylist at The Hair Shoppe in Three Rivers. She faithfully served her clients there until her retirement in 2018.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Anita was a devoted member of Three Rivers Bible Church and generously volunteered her time in service to her community. She will be fondly remembered as the snack lady for Vacation Bible School at the Three Rivers Bible Church. She was especially dedicated to helping with the Methodist Church's soup kitchen, where she found great joy in feeding others and making sure everyone felt cared for and welcomed.

Anita enjoyed reading Christian romance novels and treasured time spent with her family. Her greatest joy in life was her granddaughters, whom she loved dearly and spoke of often. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had a creative spirit. In her younger years, she enjoyed ceramics and spent many hours crafting beautiful holiday decorations. She also loved watching the Game Show Network and could often be found playing right along with the contestants from the comfort of her home, enjoying the challenge and excitement of the games.

She is survived by her loving children, Audra (Jason) Lucas of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Clint (Amy) Young of Three Rivers, Michigan; her cherished granddaughters, Madison and Mackenzie Lucas of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Grace and Annemarie Young of Three Rivers, Michigan; her brother, Allen (Ellen) Omo; sister-in-law: Theo Omo; and loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.D. and Anne Omo; her brother, Robert Omo; and her niece, Terrah Omo.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A burial of her cremated remains will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers, Michigan, at a date to be announced.
