Angelo Joseph Boggio, age 74 of Jones, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo following a long illness. He was born in Three Rivers on July 24, 1933 the son of Peter and Anna (Grandi) Boggio. He graduated from Three Rivers High School and was in the U.S. Navy from 1952-72, serving in Korea, Viet Nam, and various stations around the United States. Angelo then returned to Three Rivers where he worked for Michigan Power Company for 15 years. Following his second retirement, he enjoyed hunting and fishing near his Driscoll Lake home. He also enjoyed bowling, and making wines, and was a member of the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170 of Three Rivers.
Angelo was married to Beverly Boone on Nov. 16, 1954 in LaGrange, IN. She survives, along with 5 children, Anthony Peter Boggio (Cheryl) of Hibbing, MN, Pamela Jean Baran (Daniel) of Rochester Hills, MI, Ann Marie Major (Michael) of Eastpointe, MI, Mary Ann Wells (Ben) of Arlington, WA, and Joseph Boggio of Rochester Hills, MI; 9 grandchildren, Jonathan and Joseph Boggio, Nicholas, Mallory, and Timothy Baran, Chris and Rachel Major, and Jake and Grace Wells; 1 sister, Margaret Griggs of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Angeline Boggio and Mary Crossgrove; and by 2 brothers, Joseph and Frank Boggio.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers with Rev. John Booko, Pastor Emeritus of Riverside Church officiating. Interment of his ashes will follow in Poe Cemetery with military rites by the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170. Memorials will be directed to the family.
