Allan Elmer Hawn, age 75, escapes to heaven on February 12, 2015. He was born to Donald K. Hawn and Thelma L. Farris on Dec. 31, 1939 in Whitley County, IN. Allan graduated from Marcellus High School in 1958 and went on to become a licensed master electrician. He married Shirley Lucille Andrews on March 21, 1959, and they lived in Marcellus before relocating to Jones, MI. Allan was a longtime employee of Essex Wire in Three Rivers, which was aquired by United Technologies and moved to Ft. Wayne, IN. He lived in assisted living facilities in Kalamazoo and Batrtle Creek in his later years. He was an active member of the Jones United Methodist Church before his illness, and has suffered from progressive, non-remitting Multiple Sclerosis for thirty years.
Allan is survived by their only child, Dolores (James) Knight of North Bend, OR; three siblings, Peggy L. (Terry) May of Battle Creek, Alice Faye (Joe) Nix of billings, MT, and Larry L. (Marilyn) Hawn of Anchorage, AK; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Donna L. Hawn and Wilma M. Warden.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday Feb. 16, 2015 at the funeral home, followed by burial in Poe Cemetery in Newberg Township. Memorials may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
