Albert McDowell, age 92 of Vicksburg died Monday, May 22, 2017 at Midilodge of Portage. He was born in Monette, Arkansas on Feb. 19, 1925 the son of William Henry McDowell and Willie Viola (Brandon) McDowell. Albert was a farmer, and worked as a mechanic for Simmons Ford of Vicksburg for 25 years. Since his retirement, he especially enjoyed watching old western movies. Albert was married to Irene "Susie" Whaley on Nov. 17, 1951 in Tyronza, Arkansas. She died June 13, 2015. Albert is survived by three sons, Ronnie (Deborah) McDowell of Union City, Eldon McDowell of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Darrell (Tammy) McDowell of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susie, and five siblings, Eula May Murray, Herman Smith, Grizzle McDowell, Dorothy Prescott, and Clint McDowell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers, MI 49093.
